Some Brooklyn Style I love. From the girl who used to be next door.

Today's blog is about Brooklyn Interior and Props Stylist Emily Rickard.
I like to keep a keen eye on overseas trends and I really admire Emily's style.
I first met Emily in South Bondi over 8 years ago. She was the girl next door in a really cool flat!
We lived in an old Art Deco un-renovated classic Bondi Block of four which, in true Bondi style included a photographer, a stylist a stripper and… well I'm not sure what the girl upstairs from me did( she was a bit unique!!) and although our units were virtual mirror images, Emily's was distinctly more creative and quirky!
Quite often she would be in the yard painting the legs of her dining table a bright Fuscia,or sourcing amazing branches to use as scarf displays on her wall.
It never ceased to amaze me how she could transform her space with some simple everyday items she found at markets or in nature.
There was always a collection of bright succulents in unique pots scattered around her back porch and I remember always thinking how everything looked so perfectly styled in its own hap hazard way!
About 4 years ago she moved to Brooklyn and now works as an interior and props stylist,
her style is unique because you can see influences from all over the world and is not afraid to mix the old with the new and has a love of warm textures and beautiful fabrics.
Her Philosophy is
“I am spreading my adoration of interiors, props and the aesthetic across the States… one pretty picture at a time.”
Words Emily lives by when it comes to your style: "Definitely to go with your initial gut feeling... never over think it."
Great advice I say!
