Hands up who wants a home inspired by Beverly hills? Ill show you below.
Whats your favourite location? Where do you dream about going on your next big trip? Why not make your home like this place They say a change is as good as a holiday!
I recently worked with a client who like myself, travelled to the USA and fell involve with some of the retro tropical decor that can be found in many of the older established hotels like the world famous Beverly Hills hotel.
The set for many a film, the backdrop for many a film star scandal and still to this day a hot spot for afternoon cocktails in LA today!
The beverly hills hotel has undergone many renovations over the years but has always maintained a tropical vibe inside with the Fountain dining room proudly showcasing the famous Banana leaf "Martinique" wallpaper with pink velvet chairs. I mean tropical print and pink velvet? You think it would clash but they balance it well.

You may be thinking... Ummm.. I love it but I don't think I could wallpaper my house with that print and thats totally ok! The beauty of interiors is if a print is quite loud you can limit it to just one area, perhaps a cushion or a work of art on the wall. The trick is to keep your other items quite neutral. That way your tropical print will pop and make a statement without feeling to busy or in your face.
Here is a simple way to re create the beverly hills feel in your home. I have incorporated the pink with the tropical print in a predominantly white space. The white and brass tables and mirror add that retro glamour feel and tie the look together. Do you see how just one or two cushions is enough to create that retro tropical vibe yet still feel fresh?
Yes a lot of restraint has been shown here ( for me especially as I am a he tropical fan) But this how you achieve that fresh modern feel with your theme. With a simple lay out like this you allow each peace to really shine!
Always start simply, you can always add more in later.
As with al my designs for clients I also provide a luxe to less option using a few small pieces from the larger chain stores. See my below updates which actually reduce the cost of the room make over by over $300.
Once you have updated your room I recommend inviting the girls over for some pink champagne and nibbles on the couch with some Californian tunes.
Would you decorate your home this way? What is your favourite destination to go to?
